THE CREATIVE TEXTILE RETREAT

Find peace and inspiration with one of the world’s leading Textile Archives in the French countryside run by an artistic family in the Vienne

A CREATIVE ESCAPE

Maison Jacaranda is an oasis of calm for creatives and makers to retreat and find inspiration with one of the world’s leading antique textile Archives - Jacaranda Design Archive. Our self-directed retreats offer time away from the hustle and bustle of every day life to relax, study, contemplate and create.

The Archive is made up of more than 50,000 pieces amassed over 25 years from the tiniest fragment of an early eighteenth century embroidery to a nineteen seventies psychedelic print and everything in between. If you are an artist, maker, writer or researcher whose work is deeply inspired by the patterns of the past, exclusive access to the Archive offers the space to pursue your Work, explore new ideas and allow your imagination to find new directions.

For dyers, painters and sculptors our eighteenth century barn provides the ideal studio space for your Work.

THE AREA

Basking in the sun by the river with blue dragonflies, enjoying the zero pollution clear view of the skies and buzzing sound of crickets are some of many contemplative moments to be savoured in the surrounding areas at Maison jacaranda.

Just a stone’s throw from the natural Parc of the Brenne, Maison Jacaranda is located in the region of the Vienne in central rural France. It is well known for its leafy forests, well sign posted countryside walks and its rich cultural heritage. The house is roughly one hour from both Poitiers and Limoges airports and ten minutes from the medieval town of Montmorillon where you will have access to a train station, car rental services, supermarkets, shops, restaurants and markets.
